GORDON H. GARRETT ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY
Demonstrating an imaginative reuse of an obsolete facility with a 110,000 square foot addition, an out-of-date, mid 1950s high school was converted into the southeast’s foremost magnet high school of technology. The academy’s design projects an image that coincides with its highly technical industrialprograms. This project was constructed by using the speed and economics of precast concrete architectural panels. Precast concrete is gaining recognition as a means to provide a quality building envelope that is both handsome and durable. The design of Garrett Academy is an excellent example ofsite usage and functional planning and projects a significant architectural statement.
