The Owner’s design goal of this renovation was to fully transform the quaint 2-bedroom bungalow by enlarging the spaces with a full renovation, carport and deck addition. The existing front entrance was facing the side of the property and hidden from view. Since the home is located on a prominent corner lot, the entrance was shifted to the front/middle of the home, making it a focal point with a new porch highlighted by contemporary wood accents. Much of the existing brick was kept and given fresh paint and copper panel accents to compliment the surrounding historic neighborhood and add  texture to the facade.

The existing interior of the house was comprised of various compartmentalized rooms, closed off by doors and small windows. To bring about the larger feel the Owner’s desired, the interior was gutted and a new layout was created with open concept living areas, utilizing natural light throughout. A large, open living room and dining room overlook a new deck and with a screened in porch. A state-of-the-art kitchen located adjacent to the living room, boasts a 10-foot kitchen island with bar stool seating,  modern cabinetry, gas stove, and stainless steel appliances and countertops. To the left of the entryway a grand floating staircase leads to the new second floor spaces. The glass railing helps to elevate the open concept layout while providing a modern flare to the home.

Within the existing attic, a new second floor was built with a guest bedroom, full bath and storage room/future bedroom. A dormer was added to the second floor to enlarge the bedroom space while also flooding the space with natural light.
