"The new Palmer Campus may do more for the image of the city's
struggling East Side neighborhood than any other single project in
decades."
Post & Courier March
2001,
Robert Behre, Reporter
The Palmer Campus, which
previously housed the C.E. Brown High School, lacked any type of main
entry building. The program for the additions called for a design which
would provide a new identity to the campus, establish an entry building
to house administration facilities and a Media center, and renovation of
another 25,000 square feet of existing space for computer and laboratory
facilities. Specific to the site were two dominant smoke stacks which
were visible from all locations of the campus. These smokestacks became
the background for the entry building which included a tower form to
play of the stacks in the background and establish an entry to the
school.
