This custom
residence is located on a small, pie-shaped, golf course
and marsh view lot on a barrier resort island.
The
orientation and location of the house were determined by
such natural features of the site as prominent views,
existing trees and the
sun’s path across the lot. By
placing the house towards the rear of the lot, prominent
views were maximized and the disturbance of existing
vegetation was minimized.
A distinguishing design
feature is the grand entry stairway and curved entry
wall. The curved wall helps transition the house from
the street to site and identifies the entry. The
multi-story height of the main living space on the golf
course side of the house is connected to the two-story
entry by means of a continuous cathedral ceiling,
creating a flow from front to rear and strengthening the
centrality of the house. |
