“You succeeded in designing and
building a handsome three-story building that picks up and accentuates
many of the architectural features of the neighborhood. Everything about
the building is tasteful and well thought out.”
Martin Perlmutter, Director Jewish
Studies Program College of Charleston
This new 12,500 square foot
facility houses The College of Charleston Jewish Studies Program. The
three story building includes spaces for meeting rooms, student activity
rooms, and faculty offices. Key among the buildings spaces are the large
multiuse room on the first floor with attached storage and kitchen and
the library which houses materials and displays associated with the
Center as well as a language lab. A conference room and meeting area
compliment the offices on the upper floors. Although modern in execution
the design was partially based on the massing and entry orientation of
other structures in the vicinity. The building’s construction cost was
$3 million.
