A unique building on peninsular Charleston, this bank’s design was a response to the client’s desire for a 2,000 square foot, full-service bank located on a small, confined site.
In order to gain maximum site usage, the final architectural solution was to provide an elevated structure with parking and traffic beneath. The structure consists of a rectangular glass box enclosed in a steel truss which is
suspended from forms made of cast concrete. The architect designed the building’s artwork and built in furnishings. The high perch and expanses of glass provided light and views which proved to be a note- worthy contrast to more typical bank branches. This design not only solved the programmatic requirements, it also provided a signature building, much to the delight of the Owner.
